CONTINUOUS MOVEMENT MEANS EXTENDED GEAR LIFE
Continuous Movement
Hydrostatically powered, T-L systems are designed to deliver continuous movement. Gearbox wear is drastically reduced due to the absence of electrically driven system’s stop-start operation. In addition, water and chemicals are evenly distributed over the crop. T-L systems deliver the best, most consistent water pattern available.
T-L worm drive gearboxes carry an an industry leading warranty, 8 years or 16,000 hours. They have no exposed drive lines or ujoints, with an internal drive connection inside the base beam.
YOUR SAFETY IS MORE IMPORTANT
Safety
Our irrigation systems are driven hydrostatically eliminating the need for high voltage power. The most that will be utilized is 24 volts to power some of our control system options. We do not rely on 480 volts of electricity to power our drive systems. This has the additional benefit of not being affected by lightning strikes.
HOW MUCH PRODUCTION ARE YOU LOSING?
No Spoking
Notice the non-uniform water application of the center pivot circles shown. This is known as “spoking,” which results from the start-stop operation of an electric drive pivot system. An electric pivot starts and stops 2,880 times a day at the end tower alone. Michigan State University field research (Fusco, 1995) verified the significant effect of “spoking” and found application uniformity ranged from 15% to 85% on a leading manufacturers electric drive pivot. Call up Google Earth Maps on your computer and see for yourself.
Common sense would say the consequence of “spoking” is lost crop production and that production losses can be even greater if the system is being used for chemigation. Your investment in irrigation is significant, and is intended to maximize your economic return from your crop. However, the intermittent motion of an electrically powered pivot system can detract from your return, sometimes significantly.
NO EXPOSED DRIVE SHAFTS
Low Maintenance
T-L’s pivot irrigation systems are constructed with high-strength truss rods and a double tower-leg design. Components are zinc coated by T-L’s galvanizing plant to prevent rust. Features such as external flex joints, unexposed drive shafts, no universal joints, and the absence of contactors and fuses contribute toward making T-L systems trouble free.
